LIVE BLOG/REVIEW MADONNA LIVE AT THE SUPER BOWL HALF TIME SHOW - 6 FEBRUARY 2012

Madonna is on stage people!!

She’s gone for a Roman theme (perhaps a link to Nicki Minaj too?) she arrives on a massive golden carriage and is wearing a sparkling head-dress with horns.  Then some thigh length black boots and a Roman-esq skirt.

She starts of the set with ‘Vogue’ vocals sounding great.  There is a clever video screen on the ground which show a magazine spread and the dancers make out the cover art by lying down on the covers whilst the camera looks down on them.

She is also joined on stage but about 15 dancers I’d say…now we’re into ‘Music’ she’s doing some funny hopping dancing at the moment.  This could be mimed too, it all sounds a little bit too good, there’s no breathing sounds as she moves around.

Woahh now she is doing some amazing split moves with her dancers who are dressed in white Adidas tracksuits.  There is also some acrobatics and some tight-rope walking from her dancers.  Oooh and she smiled!  Cute.

Now we see LMFAO at the DJ booth…Madonna gets on one of their shoulders as they mash together their song about ‘having a good time’ and her song ‘Music’.  Bit of a dance breakdown now to LMFAO’s song…all three are dancing….now they are doing ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’ and at the end they whip off her skirt.

Now she’s dressed as a cheerleader with pom-poms!  Nicki Minaj is also on stage with her along with MIA for their new song ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ - I’m still thinking she’s miming at this point.  Nicki Minaj then does her rap bit with her bit belt with ‘N’ on it…M.I.A then does her rap with a matching belt with a ‘M’ on it…obviously!  All the ladies are looking hot and the ‘L U V’ chanting bits really work - lots of energy in this performance and the stage looks amazing.  The three ladies are also joined on stage by another 25 female dancers.

Ooohhh now Cee-Lo Green is on stage with a big marching band!  They are singing ‘Open Your Heart’ and ‘Express Yourself’ as a mash-up!

Madonna has now put on a full length black number along with Cee-Lo Green!  There is a HUGE choir on stage with them to sing ‘Like a Prayer’….ESSENTIALLY THIS IS NOW MAGIC AND I’M SOLD!  Cee-Lo is adding a nice tone to her songs and she is still sounding great…I’m so undecided on the miming now.  Blimey Madge is getting into this song…and why not it’s just a perfect song.

The end scene is just beautiful…I actually have goosebumps…all of the camera lights behind her look beautiful and she vanished into some smoke at the end before the camera moves out to reveal ‘world peace’ written on the video screens…yeah that bit was pretty cheesy!

It definitely got better towards the end of the performance, LMFAO added nothing to the pre-ceedings and Nicki and M.I.A were nice to look at but again they didn’t add much…how can you though when you are next to Madonna.  She looked fit and confident up there…her dancing was pretty good - some of it relied a little on athleticism but then again that is also a skill in itself.  She even dealt well with a little slip in thigh high boots!

I think it will go down as a success…and after the Black Eyed Peas 2012 will definitely be a year to remember for Half Time at the Super Bowl.
